For a point of reference, I've also been issued Arcteryx, Wild Things and Patagonia rain shells. I think the Gen 3 compares surprisingly well. It's thin and the goretex breathes well. It's not the most durable thing but neither is the comparable civvy rain gear. Precip gear is always a trade off but the USGI is worth surplus prices IMO.
